Coronavirus (COVID-19) Notice

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) – We remain Open for Consultations and LASIK Surgeries are still going ahead. Lens implantation surgeries have recommenced.

  • We are currently maintaining social distancing in our waiting room.
  • We ask that only patients wait in our waiting room please.
  • Currently due to COVID 19 restrictions, Dr McGeorge is operating at SJOG Murdoch & SJOG Subiaco at 50% capacity.
  • Bentley Hospital has not reopened for surgeries due to COVID  19. Dr McGeorge’s waitlist at Bentley Hospital is on hold.
  • All LASIK and refractive surgeries performed in Dr McGeorge’s theatre at Murdoch continue to operate as normal.

Please see below the announcement we have from the Government and we are following their guidelines.

Please DO NOT ATTEND, if you:

  • Have been in contact with someone who is a confirmed case of Coronavirus COVID-19; or
  • Have a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty breathing, fatigue, or any cold/flu like symptoms.

If you fit this criteria please self-isolate at home until the 15th day following travel or contact, even if you are well. If you are showing respiratory or flu-like symptoms, present to the nearest public emergency department where the most up to date isolation precautions and treatments are available.

If you have travelled from outside Western Australia in the last 14 days and become unwell you must self-isolate and seek medical advice.

I have heard about SMILE laser. Is it safe?

SMILE laser or Small-incision lenticule extraction is a new treatment and the latest in the field of keratorefractive surgery.

Small-incision lenticule extraction entails the use of the femtosecond laser to create 4 sequential cuts to form an intrastromal lenticule, which is subsequently separated from the surrounding corneal stroma to provide myopic correction.
